Honda Urban SUV Concept [w/Gallery]
Tue, 15 Jan 2013Honda's Urban SUV Concept has made its World Debut at the 2013 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS).
The concept measures in at 4,300mm - 228mm shorter than the CR-V - and is designed to be ideal for navigating in cities and on open mountain roads. Honda has said that it suggests the styling direction of an upcoming small SUV model that will launch in Japan at the end of 2013 and in the U.S. in 2014 before being introduced in Europe.
At the front the Urban SUV Concept features a horizontally barred grille that incorporates the wide headlamps. A broad air intake sits just below, while fog lamps are set deep into the face. The low roofline and squat stance are likely to feature on the upcoming model.
A soft character line that originates underneath the headlamps flows neatly over the front wheelarch and beyond, smoothing out between the B- and C-pillars. The most prominent line begins behind the front wheelarch and then flicks up dramatically to meet the hidden rear door handles, which help give the SUV a coupe-like appearance.
